Ben Lamb leads at Main Event

75% of the field is gone and miraculously, Ben Lamb is the chip leader. Lamb has had an amazing run in the 2011 WSOP, winning 1.3 million already. He is in second place for POY behind Phil Hellmuth, who is also still in the running. Lamb is holding 551,600 in chips and is establishing himself as a real tournament shark.

After playing so well with his short stack, Hellmuth made a real stupid play with 3's near the bubble against Martin de Knijff's K,Q top pair. Hellmuth busted just out of the money. It means Lamb can win the Player of the Year award if he goes deeper than 138th place, I think.

Ben Lamb is having one of the best WSOP's in recent memory. He has one of the largest stacks with about 20 players left. He's poised to make the final table and has wrapped up the 2011 POY. Congrats Ben but your journey isn't done. If you can win this tournament you'll cement yourself in WSOP history.

I found out about a week agod that the WSOP POY will not be awarded until after the European Series, so Hellmuth still has a chance.
