FREE ROLLS...DID SOMEONE SAY FREEROLLS :p!!! I find them to be the best way to build a BR, gain experince & confidence!!! I play them all over, I don't care how many are in them, be it the FTP Canadian (over the last 3 months, I had 2 money finishes and numerous bubble outs), GNUF has all sorts of different types of FR's (5 card stud, Omaha, limit, and of coarse NL) and they have a special, if you play so many raked hands in the previous 24 hrs, you get a larger starting stack, there's alway upwards of 6000-12,000 players in them too! Party Poker had some big ones a few years ago. My first tournament there was a 6000 player witha $1000 prize pool (it was before the US ban) and I got a 6th (my first experince in being able to push over 10 million chips, gawd it felt sooo goood!!) I'll play some FR's @Tiger, but all of thiers have rebuys & add-ons, but they do have some cheap ptr freerolls (they to have rb's/add-ons??? .25) that pay the top 20 or 30 and they never have that many players in them. I used to play in all the pointers on the IPoker till they dropped them, but CD still has some ptrs on the weekend ($1000/1000 ptr with rb's/add-ons and a qualifier to the $250,000 for 500pts with rb's/add-ons). But the best was last summer. I got an email from CD with one of thier specials, log in and I get $20 and 2 tickets to for a couple of qualifiers ($50,000 guarenttee and a $150,000r/a). Well I crapped outta the $50g qualy, so when it came to the $150g'er qualy there were 128 in it and only the top 10 got a ticket. So I started off playin tight, then about 6 hands into it I hit pocket Kings and I had a slight lead in chips & was in late possition at the table so I raised to 150 to get a few of the callers off (blinds were only 5-10) and I have 2 folds, but one reraised me to 410 so to see if he was bluffing I reraised him putting the other 2/3's of his chips at stake and he called with j9 clubs, well the flop was a little scary (10,8,6, with only 1 club)turn was a 4, and he filled out his straight on the river (Q!!!). Well needless to say I was flabbergasted (and was down to 370 chips & last). Well instead of throwing in the towel, I sat back & started to pick my spots and I ended up finishing in 5th place. When it came time for the main event there were 1210 in it, I hadn't enough for a single rebuy, so I held my cards really tightly in my hands for the first hour, I may have played 4 or 5 hands and was down to about half my starting stack and at the end of the first hour I got AA so I pushed with it and tripled up on the last hand of the first hour (which I find unusual, what usually happens some big stack with rags cracks them). In the second hour my cards warmed up and I found myself on a roll at the end of it. The third hour I tightened up again, playin only premium hands and we were into the payout..I ended up finishing in 27th and getting $870....ntb for free!!!
